Senior Commercial Manager - Part Time

Job Description

The role reports into the Head of Finance, working an average of 3 days per week and is based at our Kirkbymoorside site, North Yorkshire; although a significant amount of the work can be undertaken remotely, attendance on site will be required on a ad hoc basis when needed.

You will use your expertise and experience to pave the way for the introduction of new business; ensuring that the process is smooth and efficient for all stakeholders and that the business is made aware of any potential areas of risk.

The role will support the company in managing the full life cycle of its contracts, this will involve supporting the winning of new business and thereafter will be responsible for contract drafting and negotiation, managing contract changes and conducting contract reviews, using innovative ways to resolve problems in order to maintain excellent customer relations and maximise performance on contracted activity.

You would be accountable for the commercial activities within Advanced Composites Ltd, ensuring that all undertakings are in the best interests of the business. Leading cross functional teams in the design and implementation of relevant strategy, systems, policies, projects or approaches to improve or maximise company performance and minimise risk.

The main aspects of the role include:-

  • Acting as the customer point of contact for contractual & commercial matters
  • Encouraging good industry standard practice and self-assessment of quality and accuracy of commercial work.
  • To minimise the contractual, commercial and business risk and exposure of the Company whilst maximising profit opportunity
  • Leading the Commercial team
  • To ensure the efficient and effective transfer of commercial responsibility for newly contracted business in the delivery and performance phase
  • Collating commercial data as required for Business Unit bids and projects
  • Providing advice, assistance and guidance on a wide range of commercial matters, including commercial support and contracts.
  • Maintain knowledge in area of expertise and coach and develop colleagues.
  • Maintain a close contact with Procurement staff.
  • If you are interested in this role you will have:-

  • A demonstrable record of working in a commercial environment, working on complex contracts for a variety of and commercial civil and possibly defence sector customers
  • An in-depth working knowledge of pricing, terms and conditions and other contractual documentation
  • The capability to interface with senior company and customer personnel and all employees
  • An understanding of defence/aerospace contracts, ideally Def-Cons
  • Ideally worked with international customer base
  • Qualifications

    To be successful in this role you must possess;-

  • Educated to degree level.
  • Member of a recognised professional body - Desirable
  • Integrity – builds a trusting relationship between members of the internal team and customers
  • Drive results – takes accountability and ensures clear lines of communication
  • Teamwork – recognises that together we achieve more
  • Working knowledge of pricing and business documentation
  • Significant experience in delivering complex commercial contracting, negotiation and administration solutions.
  • Strong written, communication and analytical skills
  • Generating contracts and providing others in Procurement with Contractual expertise.
  • While this role allows for remote working, you must have the ability to attend site at Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire on a regular basis or as and when required.
