Assistant Commercial Manager

We are currently seeking an Assistant Commercial Manager to join our team delivering the Transpennine Route Upgrade rail improvement west of Leeds, as part of our wider Rail and Infrastructure businesses.

Based in Leeds, Manchester, York or Sheffield and supporting Commercial Managers and the Commercial Lead, you will play a key role in the commercial management of this project for Arup and the wider alliance.

Role - What we're looking for in you

As part of the Commercial team and reporting to a Commercial Manager, you will undertake core management and commercial activities to support the management of the project for Arup and the wider alliance. You will apply sound numerical skills and a thorough approach to create, manage, process and share commercial information. You will undertake core tasks supporting regular reporting, including: -

  • Collation and management of commercial information including hours bookings, expenses and sub-consultant costs,
  • Preparation of regular forecasts based upon information from project teams,
  • Managing records and registers of variations,
  • Management and control of sub-contractor order information and records, and
  • Provision of commercial information to colleagues within the project.
  • To achieve in this role, you will have...

  • Experience of contributing to the management of infrastructure projects.
  • Degree level qualification in a numerical or business administration-related subject, or equivalent qualifications and experience.
  • Experience in the preparation and management of numerical information.
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Excel.
  • Desirable Skills and Knowledge

  • Experience in the rail sector.
  • Experience in project commercial management.
  • Experience of sub-consultant/sub-contractor management.
  • Experience in the use of PowerBI and/or ProjectWise.
